About Dr. Michael Bates
Dr Bates practiced OB/GYN for 34 years in Wichita, Kansas, until his retirement from private practice as an associate of MidKansas Women’s Center in 2011, the group with which he had been associated his entire practice life.
He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska (M.D. 1974), ob/gyn residency at Wesley Medical Center, Kansas University, Wichita, Kansas (1974-1977), and board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (1980).
After his appointment as clinical associate professor of OB/GYN, Kansas University Dr Bates taught and supervised medical students and residents throughout his active practice life.
Dr. Bates served as Medical Director for Planned Parenthood, Wichita (1977-1979), president of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County (1999), and president of Central Plains Regional Health Care Foundation (2000).
Barcelona, Spain is now home for the doctor and his wife Carolina, who is professor of Spanish linguistics at the University of Barcelona.
